Your first appointment will focus on a consultation with our Physical Therapist, Nancy Doyle. She will complete a comprehensive evaluation of your pet from a Rehabilitation perspective. Fear-free handling techniques are utilized to minimize any stress to your pet; if your pet is a picky eater, bring some favorite treats. You and Nancy will discuss extensively your concerns and goals for your pet.

Nancy will then complete objective measurements to provide accurate assessments and tracking of future progress; typical measures include gait analysis, mobility assessment, goniometry (joint angles), girth measures for muscle mass and body composition, and palpatory assessments of the musculoskeletal system. All the findings will be discussed and integrated with your observations and concerns.

Then the real fun begins as we focus on recovery! Initial homework will be provided so you can immediately begin to help your pet. Recommendations will be made for any environmental modifications and assistive equipment. And, we will discuss treatment options to help your pet continue on a journey of recovery.
We call this session an “information gathering” opportunity. Come prepared with your questions to best utilize Nancy’s experience and expertise!
